The Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic Orlando Health, in partnership with the University of Central Florida, is seeking an experienced BC/BE primary care sports medicine physician. The Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic Orlando Health has served as the team physicians to UCF athletes for over 15 years. Through this continued partnership, UCF is looking to expand the comprehensive medical services provided to their athletes and the Orlando community.
As a proud member of the American Athletic Conference (AAC), UCF currently has 16 varsity sports and approximately 400 student athletes competing at the NCAA Division I level. Since the conference was formed in 2013-2014, UCF has won a total of 18 conference championships across 16 sports. A robust and comprehensive sports medicine program is a key element to the University’s goal of building a top 25 athletics program. The UCF sports medicine staff is currently comprised of a director of sports medicine, 8 athletic trainers, 2 resident athletic trainers, 2 graduate assistants, 1 athletic training intern, 1 insurance coordinator and 1 physical therapist.
The primary care sports medicine physician will be responsible for working collaboratively with the UCF sports medicine staff, coaches and the entire athletics department to ensure that the student athletes are receiving the highest level of care to achieve optimal performance both on the field or court and in the classroom. This includes providing both general medical and musculoskeletal care for all UCF athletes. In addition, you will be able to offer sports medicine care to the Orlando community at large. We are looking for a dynamic leader with experience working with or for a NCAA Division 1 University. Successful completion of an ACGME accredited fellowship in primary care sports medicine and completion of, or eligibility to sit for, the sports medicine Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) examination, is required. Ideal candidates will have a wide range of clinical, diagnostic and procedure skills based on their comprehensive work experience and training.
