Our forward thinking private practice is based in downtown Washington DC with a new satellite office near Nationals Stadium. Our group of five surgeons and 2 PA’s is part of a 180-Orthopaedist supergroup, The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, which maintains an approximately 30% market share within the DC/MD/VA market. CAO is at the forefront of BPCI and private bundle origination, with anticipated forays into population health.
We maintain strong ties to Sibley Memorial Hospital, which is a part of Johns Hopkins, and we work with George Washington University residents who cover call. Academic appointment is an option but not a necessity, and the ability to work with upper level residents and teach is available. We all own ASC shares and are on the verge of opening a second ASC. We have a robust outpatient joints program already at our 4-OR, physician-owned ASC and plan to do both outpatient joints and spine at the new venture. We have excellent ancillary income potential through a large PT/OT practice, X-ray, DME and ASCs.
Our senior partner is retiring from doing TJA as of 2020 and another partner does TKA’s but is willing to give those cases to a new Joints surgeon, so there is a need and a moderate volume off the bat. We have long-standing and strong relationships with referring providers and a strong payor mix. This is a great opportunity for a young motivated surgeon who is personable and willing to build up a high volume Joints practice. General Level 2 paid call (typically one week at a time and mostly geriatric hip trauma) and other opportunities are available while building to an eventual all-arthroplasty practice. Current partners include fellowship trained hand/upper extremity, foot/ankle, sports and shoulder. All of us currently see some degree of general orthopaedics and that is expected, but there should not be competition for THA/TKA for you and all potential TJA will be shuttled over.
We are looking for an applicant to start in the fall of 2020. The ideal applicant will be willing and able to meet current referring providers and interested in expanding the practice to new referrral sources, be willing to cover general orthopaedics patients and take general call to build his or her practice. Ties to the area are a plus. Any interest in hip preservation/arthroscopy is a plus but not necessary. Initial compensation is competitive and based on experience with income potential at 90% MGMA and above. Our practice has been stable and congenial for years - we are well run, profitable and at the forefront of private practice care, well situated for a rapidly changed healthcare environment.
